The story of a fighter

As a kid I used to think the lesson these bed time stories give is that at d end we will all meet our happy endings but as I grew up I discovered its not what was meant to be delivered; they were primarily meant to teach us if demons did not exist so never did heroes. It matters not if your journey or the end is grand; what matters is if u’ve fought the demon in n around u throughout, which indeed makes u a hero in your own story.

This is my story, ordinary n probably less dramatic than many; yet for me it’s special because its all that I own. I’ve got my own share of shades - greys, whites n rainbows which paints the canvas of my life vivid; enough to be startled when my end meets.

This story is about my principles, my beliefs, my aspirations, my desires, my fears, my challenges, my wrongs n my rights. It’s my battleground n I’m a warrior. I met a few who were on my side (frndz, family, relatives, acquaintances n strangers), I met a few who were on other side (frndz, family, relatives, acquaintances n strangers), I met a few who cared to stay, I met a few who eventually changed n I met a few who decided to leave. I rejoiced when I got a lead, I mourned over my losses n I kept going. Along the way I tried to hold onto things n memories close enough to not let go but then I realized moving ahead was more important. Forgiveness, acceptance, selflessness n humility is more important. I can defeat my enemies but I can’t kill the demon in them. This life is only 1 chance to make it right, to be more than what we are today, to make a difference, to leave this world a better place than we came in. Winning to emerge a hero does not require much than to learn to shift our temptation of focus from negative to positive. A wise once said, “Darkness is nothing but absence of light”. Thus, for positive to thrive negative has to exist. We can only acknowledge n appreciate good if we have something to compare as bad. It’s all but one, differentiation lies only in the perspective n for the picture to be complete both bipolar n complimentary aspect needs to be present.
With the roses comes the thorn,
After dusk there is dawn,
All that glitters is not gold,
Even an half empty glass has half the water to hold.

This is the story of a fighter n there is a fighter in every one of you; find it, train it, provoke it to win over n be a hero!

Choose 'Generous'

We were taught in school not to ever beg in life for anything but what we were not taught is how to respond to a beggar who sacrifices all of his lifetime's earnings, a mere 2000 Rs. in charity for the education of a neighborhood child who needed money to study further after being qualified in one of the top government medical examinations.

I heard this story over a radio channel where one of the listeners had called in to share something and its generally one of those darn moments when listeners like me yell "hell boy, finish your story fast so that I can listen to some good music, the very reason I'm here". But I'm so glad I didn't switch the channel and decided to hook onto this caller from Barrackpore, a small town in West Bengal, who shared this beautiful story of selflessness, compassion & generosity.

The story goes something like this -- a poor guy had qualified in to be eligible for applying in one of the top medical institutes of India. The only thing refraining him from the admission was his poverty. His father did not have the money to fund his education. His neighbors were kind enough to collect donation on his behalf & help him study further. Despite all the people giving their best at helping this poor guy they were still short by Rs. 2000. And here arrives our hero, the local beggar, who offered to donate his lifetime's savings of Rs. 2000 for this guy's education, not being bothered of the little he has, SALUTE!

I would not only like to salute the beggar who gave away all of his lifetime's savings for an unknown boy whom he addressed as his grandson (yes, this speaks of the beggar being an old man) but would also like to salute the person for sharing this story with us. And through this blog I strive to be another link in the chain for spreading this touching story (not covered by any media or news house) for I believe the universe deserves to know such kind of stories more often. They say what we throw back at universe it returns the same to us. I'm just being a little selfish here by giving the universe an example of generosity & compassion and expect to receive the same in some form, some where, some day.

Handle with Care!

Love secret lost, found, caredSome SECRETS have their own weird way of revelation. Social networks have not only invaded personal space, it has also broken many myths. One such myth was broken when I came across 'his' twitter profile -- earlier it was password that kept the memories of your LOST LOVE secretly intact in your heart -- it's taken a new form these days. I found my name prefixed along 'his' twitter handle & I learnt it was one of those real things we had between us --

It was for short, but it was for REAL -- it wasn't meant to be, but it was LOVE!
